The originator, Robert Propst, was President of the Propst Company, a research and development company. Propst's work on innovative process has had a broad based productivity consequence. His system oriented products have changed world-wide organizations and industry users' work processes.

Robert Propst had very diverse interests including pilot environment improvements for aerospace; office facility systems; systems for health care laboratory; integrated building systems; institutional waste management systems; pulpwood timber harvesting systems and concrete quality control measures.

His work has been prominently represented in exhibitions at the Smithsonian Institution, the Walker Art Center and the Henry Ford Museum Design History Center.
